What is “heat-exchange coating”?
Heat-exchange coating consumes heat within its coating film by changing it into kinetic energy. From the power saving movement after the Great East Japan Earthquake, it was greatly brought up in the NHK news as a new coating.

 

So, what are differences between heat-barrier coating and heat-exchange coating?
The biggest difference is that heat-exchange coating changes cold (coldness) into kinetic energy and reduces the ambient cold that enters a building through the walls. We can use the blackish-color coating that is used for roofs because this does not have a reflection effect. Black color absorbs heat. In a slightly extreme way of speaking, it gets colder in winter with the heat-barrier coating.

【Heat-Exchange Coating】
Specifications: TOUGH Coat D-47 D-42 Regular price for an application of 4 layers of coating is below. This includes scaffolding.



Characteristics The primer that is used for surface preparation is oil-based. TOUGH COAT, the heat-exchange coating, which is used for the final coating, is water-based, it does not smell much. A building with the coating lasts long because the coating protects from the heat in summer and cold in winter. The certificate of carbon offset will be issued.
Price This is based on a full two-story house of 30 tsubo (99.17 m2). The length of the roof sticking out is 1 shaku. (30.3 cm)

An Example of Heat-Exchange Coating Application

This work was done from October 9th to 12th in 2012. According to Mr. Hirai from Toyo Engineering Ltd., who was the leader at this work site, the temperature inside the container that had been coated with the heat-exchange coating stayed almost the same throughout the day. On the other hand, the temperature difference between morning/night and daytime in the one without the coating (the picture the left) was about 10°C.

The picture below is Kagohara Daycare Center of Kumagaya City. The pink-colored part showing in the picture is where the heat-exchange coating has been applied. It snowed on January 25th, 2013, and the snow covered the roof. However, you see the snow had melted on the part where the coating was done. Yes, the heat-exchange coating is effective even during winter.
